The vision for sequester the board game

Our Vision? Dialogue: Four people. Four different views. Playing together.

Simply put, we want people of all ages, beliefs, political views, and ethnic backgrounds to come play together around something important. Can we save the world from climate change or is it impossible? I'm not going to convince you, and you are not going to convince me, but maybe playing together might bring us closer to understanding each other and what is at stake.

When people hear the word "sequester", "carbon capture", "recycling", "Celsius", their eyes glaze over. Yes, many people understand that climate change is bad, but what do all these terms used really mean? This game will show the actions and consequences of climate scenarios based on innovations, money, city building, population and policy changes.

Game Objectives

All players are trying to sequester as much carbon as possible before the year 2050. If the goal is not met, the game is lost, mostly. If there are any survivors, they can attempt to rebuild and bring players back into the game. At the end, money and carbon are counted and one player becomes king of the world, so to speak.

The Big Picture

This is a big undertaking. So here are the steps we are trying to make happen as quickly as possib

Raise $10k via kickstarter campaign

  • Those who contribute more than $100, will have the opportunity to test the game and give critical feedback. Those who give useful feedback will be named as designers on the game and can use this experience as a credible way to market themselves. A limited physical quantity of 50 test games will be given to the first contributors. An online testing version will be available to all others via steam.
